A week at Green Turtle Bay

Yesterday at anchorage the winds picked up so we picked up and moved to the Marina a day early....and took it at a weekly rate. The marina is busy with an in-water boat show and full but they were able to find us a covered slip and we're happy to be tied to a dock as the wind and rains from Hurricane Ike are passing though right now!

Today is 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 45mph....a good day to be under cover and tied up. Yesterday was 96 degrees in Paducah and windy. That is 15 degrees above normal. It's been a hot and sunny week in this Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area....a very nice place so far and lots more to see.

We are going to make a run home today to drop off unneeded stuff, pick up a few things and snuggle grandchildren. I'm loading my pickup camper on our truck so my son and his bride can come down for a visit to the boat and enjoy a week camping in the LBL area. Lots of campsites for $12/night. As the cooler fall weather comes, we hope the trees turn color and campfires are more welcome. (maybe a paella on the beach)

We are planning on bringing down a beater Ranger pickup truck to have some wheels in this area and other places where we slow down along our loop. It's an old company truck that's being put out to pasture in Cincinnati. We'll see how that idea treat's us.

So expect the blog to be quieter this week ....maybe a few more pics from the huge picture file I've developed. Ted Stehle of Waterway Guide and Skipper Bob Publications has asked for permission to use pictures and/or snips from our posts on his cruisers website.....neat eh?

Enjoy Every Sandwich
