The boat we found was a 1991 Grand Banks Classic (Hull #95) built in Singapore (as was I).
Powered by Twin Cat 3208TA 375 hp diesels....speed if needed, but thirsty! 8 KW Westerbeke.
Lots of related gear and trimmings!
It was originally shipped to the Pacific Northwest and then sent overland to Holland, Michigan. It was purchased and named Jade, probably due to the jade green upholstery (we replaced). The boat was sold subsequently and renamed Wings. It stayed in Holland at Eldeans shipyard until purchased by us in September 2006.
The boat has done the loop at least once by the second owner. To our way of thinking it was in excellent condition having been primarily a freshwater boat used in the summer and stored inside (heated) during the tough Michigan winters. We moved the boat to Spring Lake last year and stored it nearby.
Last year we worked on the boat upgrading the upholstery throughout adding some new canvas, adding a new propane stove and system, new microwave and installing a trash compactor. The stereo systems were upgraded to new CD players and this year we put new marine speakers up top. There sure were lots of other small changes and upgrades as anyone who buys a used boat will attest to, let alone the normal maintenance needs.
Just before the shakeout cruise last year, the radar went out so we quickly upgraded to a new Raymarine E-120....expensive...but very nice to have, particularly with the Sirrius weather.
The shakeout cruise was uneventful. (I did rip off the stern light when I tied the dingy to it....bummer and a replacement from Singapore was ordered) It was a fun trip to the North Channel for a month and gave us a taste of what was to come.
She's a two stateroom layout with galley down, forward v-berth, washer drier, cold plate fridge/freezer, forward head with shower, aft master stateroom with separate head and shower rooms.....lots of storage......upper and lower hemls...nice upper aft deck for sitting out in the mornings and evenings.
She's an older boat but in good shape....we hope it has few thousand more miles on her!
